Ebay: Effects on Society

My topic will be about eBay. I will be researching and writing about the positive and negative effects eBay has on our society. There are different perspectives one can have on this new media and I hope to cover a good chunk of it. I will try to have at least 5 ideas from each side of the table and come up with some interesting arguments.

  1. Hi Ken,

I am an eBay fanatic! I once was a power seller 5 years ago and they ended up suspending my account! :(

I was torn between deciding to write about eBay or Twitter, and I ended up choosing the latter. Personally, I believe eBay has evolved into a wonderful contributor to our society in many aspects. During checkout, they have added an option to donate $1.00 to a charitable cause. From this, I believe I have donated multiple times - I think it's a great idea! Fraud and incompetent buyers/sellers have also decreased massively through strengthened policies and the acquisition of PayPal.

But, I digress. I leave the masterpiece to you!

Let me know if you need any help!

  2. Hi Ken sounds like you have a great topic. I myself have never used ebay, heard so many good things about it.
    Good luck!

  3. Hi Ken,

I think the evolution of eBay has grown so fast in the world that almost everyone in the world knows about it. It is very effective and efficient in giving the world what it wants. It has countless of things you can buy from a different variety of prices and the downside is that you would have to bid against people you don't know! I believe eBay's effect on society limits people on staying home and shopping more rather than going out. Maybe you can talk about this more in your paper.

    Good luck!
